The Retina Department has the equipment to be able to provide high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, such as fundus fluorescein angiography, indocyanine green angiography using the latest Zeiss equipment imported from Germany, an optical coherence tomograph, a B-scan, diode laser, and an Argon (green) laser.
Three of the Consultants in the Retina Department spent time at L V Prasad Eye Institute, India. Dr. Arifuzzaman worked at the Bhubaneswar Tertiary Branch Hospital, and Dr. Nazmun Nahar did her fellowship in Hyderabad, and Dr. Sanjoy Das completed a full 15-month fellowship in Hyderabad.
n 2011, the Department saw over 34,351 outpatients (on average 118 per day) and performed more than 1,395 surgeries. The main surgeries performed by the retina surgeons include: retinal detachment surgery with or without vitrectomy, macular hole surgery, and vitrectomy with lensectomy.
