"Seeing is Believing" Brings Celebrities to Islamia

Islamia was once again honored to have celebrity visitors spend time learning about the differences our doctors/ nurses and hospital team, are making to lives in Bangladesh.

Among the visitors was Joanna Lumley, famous British actress, film star and supporter of many important social issues, including restoration of sight to the underprivileged



Another visitor was the famous personality Sir Ranulph Fiennes, considered the most renowned living explorer in the world today.


Sir Ran, as he is known, has many amazing feats of exploration and endurance to his credit, including expeditions to the North and South Poles, and a recent attempt to cross Antarctica in winter, termed “The Coldest Journey.”


This expedition aimed at raising funds for “Seeing is believing”, the organization that started in Islamia in 2003, and is now a massive supporter of sight restoration throughout the world.

A group of Taiwanese donors of ORBIS International visited IIEI&H to learn more about the Retinopathy of Prematurity program at IIEI&H being funded by ORBIS.

        Donor group visits Pediatric Ophthalmology Department

Dr. Nandini Gandhi Pediatric Ophthalmology Faculty University of California, Davis, USA.

Islamia was delighted to host Dr. Nandini Gandhi, Pediatric Ophthalmologist, from the University of California, Davis, USA.

Dr. Nandini spent time interacting with the members of IIEI&H Pediatric Ophthalmology Dept and delivered a number of lectures focusing on topics related to research.
